ATN 7 (Australia) presented this long-running daytime show “for the housewife”, with segments on cooking, fashion, beauty, exercise, health, home decorating and interviews with personalities and newsworthy individuals.

The show was hosted by Del Cartwright, an expert in Home Economics who began her broadcasting career presenting recipes on the radio in 1941. She soon had her own radio show and was one of the first to appear on Australian television when ATN 7 went on the air in 1956.

Segments on the show included ‘Movie Star Profile’ with John Fraser giving thumbnail biographies of well-known stars aided with stills and clips from their films; ‘Be Happy With Your Lot,’ which featured women who were particularly tall, short, stout or thin;  ‘Looking at . . . ‘ (which took a deep-dive look at subjects including divorce, ghosts, foreign countries and the Sydney Opera House); and ‘Megan Has a Baby’, a 15-minute segment designed to help young women expecting their first baby.

Del Cartwright presented Your Home live-to-air. During a lead-up to Father’s Day one year, Del – who was trying to promote gift ideas – said: “Don’t forget, ladies, there is nothing a husband likes more than a cool tit . . . Tool kit!”

Your Home was broadcast Monday to Thursday, with a 60-minute feature on Fridays entitled Friday Supplement, hosted by former model Pat Firman (who also deputised for Cartwright on Your Home whenever Del was on holiday).
