This full-frontal sexploitation film from director Don Chaffey (who once helmed the mighty Jason and the Argonauts) revolved around a scheming raven-haired vixen named Julie Mason (Georgina Ward, who had previously appeared in the weekly TV soap Weavers Green) who runs a luxurious private health clinic.
She makes extra cash by providing sexual favours for her clients, blackmailing the richer ones with the threat of revealing their licentiousness.
Enter handsome businessman Lee Maitland (Alexander Davion), who leads Julie to believe he is filthy rich. She plots to marry him for his money, only for it all to fall apart in a rather clever way.
Carmen Silvera (Edith Artois from ‘Allo ‘Allo) is memorable in a minor, but pivotal (and topless) role as an ageing and obsessive lesbian, Elsa Farson, who is driven to suicide when she is spurned by Julie.
There is also an early movie outing for Windsor Davies, still a few years away from becoming a British sitcom legend.
Georgina Ward made newspaper headlines in 1972 when she announced her intention to contest her father’s former Parliamentary seat at Worcester as a Labour candidate. Georgina’s father, Viscount Ward of Witley, held the seat for the Conservatives for 15 years until 1960.
The clear fact that Georgina held political views which were markedly different from her father’s was enough to ensure some publicity, but two days before the local Labour party was due to choose a candidate, a daily paper published nude pictures of Georgina from this film
Georgina felt it was unfair to the party workers in Worcester to continue as a candidate and withdrew.
The film was produced by Hazel Adair (the co-creator and writer of the long-running British TV soap Crossroads) and famous wrestling commentator Kent Walton, using the combined pseudonym of ‘Elton Hawke’.
The picture was released in the UK as Clinic Exclusive and in the US and Canada as With These Hands. It was also released in some markets as Sex Clinic.
