Investigative reporter Tank Malling (Ray Winstone) uncovers a fantastic story of vice and corruption in the police force and the judiciary, only to find himself framed for perjury.

After spending two years in prison, he gets a chance for retribution in the guise of Helen Searle (Amanda Donohoe), a high-class prostitute on the run from an influential and corrupt political figure, Sir Robert Knights (Peter Wyngarde) and pursued by a psycho hitman called Cashman (London’s Burning star Glen Murphy) and his evil sidekick Albert (ex-boxer John Conteh).

Following a trail of murders – including that of her best friend Monique (Elizabeth Hickling) – Helen’s only chance for survival is in the hands of Tank.

Meanwhile, Tank tries to sell her story to every major newspaper but finds all doors slammed in his face until the editor of a left-wing magazine takes it on.

John Conteh has the peachiest role – he doesn’t speak a word throughout the film and is kept preoccupied by stroking the naked breasts of his victims before he slashes them to death. Bad language and brutality abound.

The film was released as Double Cross, Double Intrigue and Crossfire in some markets and later re-released in a re-edited version as Beyond Soho.
