Simon, Simon (1970) – Nostalgia Central

Accident-prone council workers Graham Stark and John Junkin get a new hydraulic lift truck in this short slapstick comedy film, made in the same style as The Plank (1967) – without dialogue and accompanied by very hip jazz music.

The truck (a Simon brand hydraulic lift platform) turns out to be the star of the film – winning hearts, saving animals, getting involved in an aerial battle with a hydraulic fire engine, and eventually chasing and bringing to justice a hit-and-run thief.

The film is full of brief celebrity cameos, including Michael Caine, David Hemmings, Peter Sellers,  Bob Monkhouse, Norman Rossington, Julia Foster, Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise, Bernie Winters, and DJs Tony Blackburn and Pete Murray.
