This anthology series combined animation and live-action to adapt various children’s books.

In the first season, creator and producer Shelley Duvall served as the sole host. Two new characters were introduced in the second season – a clock named Ticker and a lamp named Clicker.

Guest stars who narrated the animated segments included Ringo Starr, Dudley Moore, Sissy Spacek, Bette Midler, Michael J. Fox, John Candy, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, Rick Moranis, Morgan Freeman, Billy Crystal, Christian Slater and Martin Short.

The series ended with a Christmas special of sorts, Steven Kellogg’s “The Christmas Witch,” narrated by actress Angela Lansbury.

The series was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program but lost to the CBS special, A Claymation Easter.
