This fast-paced Ozploitation action film revolves around Mike (Terry Serio), a steelworker by day and a budding street racer by night.
With help from his best friend and mechanic Tony (Vangelis Mourikis) and tutoring from blind street car expert Rebel (Max Cullen), he competes with Fox (Richard Moir) – the top street racer in New South Wales – in increasingly lethal high-stakes races.
Singer Deborah Conway (of Aussie band Do-Re-Mi) costars as the love interest, Julie. Aunty Jack star Grahame Bond has a cameo as a kinky leather-clad bad cop.
The film’s real stars, though, are the smorgasbord of supercharged muscle cars – including a Ford Falcon GTHO, Holden HG Monaro, Dodge Challenger and 57 Chevy Coupe. It’s crome-plated high-octane revhead porn all the way.
To avoid confusion with the 1988 American film of the same name, directed by Sidney Lumet and starring River Phoenix and Judd Hirsch, the movie was released in the US as Fast Lane Fever.
