Pop Pirates (1984) – Nostalgia Central

This Children’s Film and Television Foundation (CFTVF) production revolves around a mixed-race schoolboy reggae group called The Pirates.

The group plans to impress a local producer (Roger Daltrey from The Who) by playing at a local talent contest, but unbeknownst to the band, lead singer Paul (Spencer Chandler) is heavily involved with his uncle (George Sweeney) in a video piracy racket, and the intervention of a gang of local smugglers threatens to derail all their hard work.

Filmed at Pinewood Studios and on location in Brighton.
