Thirteen-year-old Sammy (Lachlan Haig) has been living with his maternal grandparents, Zeno (Moshe Kedem) and Anna Cesaro (Daphne Grey), since his mother died. His father, Oscar (Ned Manning), is a roving stuntman who follows carnivals around the country.
The grandparents strongly disapprove of the way Oscar lives and want greater custody of the boy. But Sammy yearns to spend life on the road with his father and runs away to be with him.
When the grandparents hire bumbling private detective Jacko (Dave Flannagan, pictured below) to find them, Oscar and Sammy hit the road together. No matter where they go, Jacko is not far behind.
Father and son find themselves in many situations where Oscar must use his stuntman skills to rescue friends or bring criminals to justice. Each time he does so, his actions reveal his true identity.
The two pals must keep moving on, trying to stay one step ahead of the law and the accident-prone Jacko. Celine Griffen plays Oscar’s girlfriend and agent, Françoise (who he calls “Frankie”).
This 10-part children’s drama series from Australia’s ABC was filmed on location in and around Adelaide.
