CBS aired this short-lived prime-time spin-off of its afternoon serial As the World Turns from 5 May to 10 September 1965.

Episodes followed the dramatic story of Lisa Hughes (Eileen Fulton), a nurse who arrives in Chicago from her hometown of Oakdale to take a new job while struggling to readjust to life after a deeply affecting divorce.

The main plot lines followed her life and associations at Chicago’s University Hospital, where she worked and the machinations of the wealthy and socially prominent Eldredge family, who lived in the exclusive suburb of Lake Forest.

Eve Eldredge (Julienne Marie) was a beautiful but tortured young woman whose seeming arrogance masked twisted drives destined to affect the lives of all who knew her.

Her mother, Helen (Geraldine Fitzgerald), was a wealthy woman whose graciousness and poise could not hide the bitterness between her and her daughter.

Helen’s younger son, Tom (Sam Groom), was a likable good-looking young lawyer who was instantly attracted to Lisa.

Older son John (Nicholas Coster), who was also a lawyer, resented the fact that Eve’s troubles were forcing him into a role he didn’t want to play.

Brad Robinson (Robert Drivas) was a young man who had long loved Eve but was alienated by her apparent disdain.

Other key characters included Dr Tony Larson (David O’Brien), a handsome young resident at the hospital with a reputation for philandering and a mysterious conviction that he’d met Lisa before, and his wife, Sandy (Sandra Scott), a registered nurse who was suspicious of Tony’s infidelity.

When the series was cancelled, Eileen Fulton returned to her daytime role on As the World Turns.
