Debuting on Saturday 9 December 1967, this colour BBC showcase for the Californian folk singer with Mexican blood in her veins (who established her popularity on British television through her appearances on The Frost Report) completed her transition from beatnik to star.
The show featured folk, blues, jazz, flamenco, and international acoustic music, with celebrity guests reading poetry, some of it hilariously offbeat.
Her guests included Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan, Jim Dale, Richard Harris, Peter Cook, Patrick Wymark, Robert Morley, Ronnie Barker, Ronnie Corbett and Clive Dunn, and musical acts including Manfred Mann, The Incredible String Band, The Alan Price Set, Leonard Cohen, The Bee Gees, John Lee Hooker, Donovan, Muddy Waters, The Hollies, Tim Buckley, Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, The 5th Dimension, Georgie Fame, Peter Sarstedt, The Pentangle, The Strawbs, The Dubliners, Madeline Bell, Jack Jones, Tom Paxton and Trios Los Paraguayos.
Julie Felix died on 22 March 2020, after a short illness. She was 81.
