The colourful stop-motion children’s television series Molly’s Gang was created for ITV by Julie McKay and John Gilluley.

Molly (voiced by West End musical theatre actress Scarlett Strallen), her twin brother Phobo, scientifically-minded Coral, Gavin the practical one, and their pet mascot (a fluff ball called Duster) are aliens who live in a secret den on the planet Gallyfrip and eat lots of ice cream.

It’s an ideal place for children, where adults are called on only when needed.

The eccentric adult characters included Hubble the gardener, a mystic named Homer (both voiced by Gary Martin), and cave-dwelling, knitting-obsessed inventor Miranda (voiced by Jacqueline Clarke), who had a wheeled robot named Noot.
