Originally set in a multicultural urban Canadian high school (Madison High), this Vancouver-made series from the Forefront Entertainment Group told stories about young people that rang true for five seasons.

Young people dealing with relationships, career difficulties, teen pregnancy, homosexuality . . . all with an edge that was refreshing.

There was no beach, not all of the characters had sex with each other, there were beer cans in the party scenes, and substance abuse seldom involved designer drugs.

The young 20-something all-Canadian ensemble cast revolved around a nucleus of Joely Collins (daughter of superstar rocker Phil Collins), Enuka Okuma, Sarah Strange, Stacy Grant, Chris Martin, Michelle Beaudoin, Peter Stebbings, Jonathan Scarfe, Chad WIllet and future Mad TV star William Sasso.

The series was sold to more than 85 countries and won 32 international awards. It proved particularly popular in Europe.
