Born and raised in London, tough-talking probation officer Jack Denby (Keith Allen) is a seasoned professional whose intuitive, hard-nosed approach to his clients and his ability to relate to their needs make him one of the best caseworkers on the block.

But his domestic bliss with his fiancée Suzanne (Anna Mountford) and her six-year-old daughter Katie (Miranda Llewellyn-Jenkins) is threatened when Suzanne is offered her dream post as a university lecturer in her native Cardiff.

Jack initially refuses to move, but eventually gives in – after seeing one of his clients murdered. In Wales, he finds that life takes on a very different face over the border.

Ruth Madoc (Hi-De-Hi!) and Andrew Sachs (Fawlty Towers) play Suzanne’s parents, Jean and Peter.

Former Till Death Us Do Part star (and the Prime Minister’s father-in-law) Anthony Booth appears as a homicidal stalker.
