Aired on Télévision de Radio-Canada from 1968 to 1975, Grujot Et Délicat was a French-language children’s programme by Clémence DesRochers.

The title characters (both anthropomorphic dogs) first appeared in the mid-1960s as a segment on the popular Radio-Canada youth variety series La Boîte à Surprise and were given their own standalone spin-off series in 1968.

The action took place in a (fictional) town named Saucissonville (Sausageville), run by Mayor Grujot (Lise Lasalle) and his right-hand man, Délicat (Gisèle Mauricet), and episodes focused heavily on mutual understanding, friendship, and problem-solving.

Délicat was highly imaginative, sensitive, and somewhat clumsy, and his eccentric ideas and blunders often triggered the plot’s misunderstandings. He would utter the expression “C’est comme l’oeuf de Chriiiiiiiiiiistophe Colombe!” (“It’s like Christopher Columbus’s egg”) whenever he had an idea.

Grujot was more cautious, sensible, and diplomatic, and frequently used his quick wit to get the duo out of trouble.

The town was inhabited by dogs, such as Fox Terrier Tommie l’Écossais (Tommy the Scotsman) (François Tassé), elderly town alderman Sourdine (Mute) (Benoît Girard), who was deaf as a post, and Madame Rossignolet des Bois (Suzanne Langlois).

Chatonne (Monique Joly) was a cat from the neighbouring town of Miouville.

The only human character was Mademoiselle Sainte-Bénite, played by the show’s creator Clémence Des Rochers (Mlle Sainte-Bénite).
