Goode Behavior – Nostalgia Central

1 9 9 6 – 1 9 9 7 (USA)
22 x 30 minute episodes

Recently paroled con-artist Willie Goode (former Jeffersons star Sherman Hemsley) arrives without warning on the doorstep of his estranged son Franklin (Dorien Wilson) in quiet Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to fulfil the conditions of his probation after 15 years behind bars.

Franklin is the Dean of Boys at Henshall University. His wife, Barbara (Alex Datcher), is a newscaster at WIRP-TV, Channel 27. Also at home is their spunky teenage daughter, Bianca (Bianca Lawson).

The righteous academic reluctantly agrees to let his not-so-righteous father stay with the family indefinitely, fulfilling the house arrest terms of his probation (using most of Franklin’s newly refurbished and cherished study as his makeshift bedroom)

The pair are virtual strangers after their 15-year separation, and Barbara is determined to settle the differences between father and son and help bring about a permanent reunion.

She realises, though, that the family’s goal to keep Willie on the straight-and-narrow could easily be derailed by the fact that he’s not exactly cured of his “entrepreneurial ways”.

Scott Grimes played Franklin’s teaching assistant, Garth. Joseph Maher was the university Chancellor.
