For Those Who Think Young (1964) – Nostalgia Central

Wealthy college playboy Gardner ‘Ding’ Pruitt III (James Darren) considers himself an expert on romance, and every girl in the dorm would love the opportunity to let Ding prove it to her. But Ding has a genuine interest in only one pretty coed, undergraduate Sandy Palmer (Pamela Tiffin).

All is not smooth sailing for the couple. For one thing, Sandy likes to play hard to get. Then there is the problem of Sandy’s guardian, Uncle Woody (Woody Woodbury), an entertainer at a local night spot, The Silver Palms.

Woody disapproves of Ding’s attentions towards his ward.

Their biggest obstacle, however, is Ding’s millionaire grandfather, E.J Cronin (Robert Middleton). This gentleman – in search of a “blue-blood” marriage for his grandson – is determined to break up the budding romance.

Also starring are Tina Louise as a stripper turned mathematics tutor; her Gilligan’s Island co-star Bob Denver as Ding’s kooky sidekick; Ellen Burstyn (billed here as Ellen McRae) as a lovely sociology professor who sets out to obtain evidence against Woodbury’s club but ends up falling for the comic; and Nancy Sinatra (in her film debut) and Claudia Martin (daughter of Dean Martin) who perform efficiently as dorm girls.

Other cast members include Louis Quinn as Woody’s partner; Sammee Tong as Ding’s valet, who is hired to spy on the young man by Cronin; and Jack LaRue, Allen Jenkins and Robert Armstrong as Cronin’s cronies.

It’s 96 minutes of easy-going Technicolor nonsense filled with talented youngsters who can sing, dance, surf, dive and swim.
