This syndicated American crime drama, produced by the Hal Roach Studio, was based on actual files from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office – ranging from juvenile delinquency and psychopathic murderers to lost children.

Code 3 (an instruction to respond to an emergency call using lights and sirens) presented the stories from the viewpoint of Assistant Sheriff Barrett (Richard Travis, pictured above) – the only recurring character in every episode.

The actual Sheriff of LA County, Eugene Bisciluz, (pictured below right) ended the episodes by thanking the audience and making brief remarks.

Actors who appeared in episodes included Dick Sargent, Mike Connors, Claude Akins, Stacy Keach Sr., DeForest Kelley, and Shirley Mitchell.
