This IPC comic was launched in October 1977, following the popularity of the buck-toothed character Cheeky, a member of the Krzy Gang in IPC’s Krazy comic.

The comic featured a supporting cast of “Pin-up Pals” that Cheeky met on his travels around town, including:

  • 6 Million Dollar Gran: A bionic parody that later became “Robot Granny”.
  • Disaster Des
  • Elephant on the Run
  • Lily Pop: A pneumatic lollipop lady.
  • Mustapha Mi££ion: A wealthy character originally introduced in Cheeky’s fictional “Mystery Comic” within the comic.
  • Ursula the Usherette: A monstrous cinema employee.
  • Walter Wurx: An incontinent character often used for “lavatorial” humour.

Other regular strips included:

  • James Bold: A detective/adventure series.
  • Skateboard Squad: A trio of skateboarders (Skipper, Skatie, and their dog Wipe-Out) who used their boards to solve crimes and right wrongs. Renamed Speed Squad in later issues.

After 117 issues, Cheeky Weekly merged into Whoopee! on 2 February 1980.
