After vanishing in 1978 when his doll got rubbed out by a mobster, hip 1970s private detective Buddy Faro (Dennis Farina, a former real-life Chicago cop) reappears 20 years later to bring his act to the 1990s with the help of his nerdy young partner, Bob Jones (Frank Whaley), and a couple of trusty assistants in actress Julie Barber (Allison Smith) and Buddy’s disco refugee business partner, El Jefe (Charles Robinson).

Buddy is stuck in a time warp of Martinis, vintage Sinatra, and hipster digs with neon-bright decor – Austin Powers meets Dean Martin meets Philip Marlowe.

Poor ratings resulted in the show’s cancellation after only eight of the 13 recorded episodes were aired.
