Stand-up comedian Bernie “Mac” McCullough (Bernie Mac) and his glam workaholic executive wife, Wanda (Kellita Smith), suddenly become surrogate parents when they take custody of his drug-addict sister’s three children while she goes into rehab.

To say the McCulloughs aren’t the parenting types is an understatement. The three kids who come to live in his swank Los Angeles crib include ungrateful teen “Nessa” (Camille Winbush); pre-asthmatic nerd Jordan (Jeremy Suarez), and adorable five-year-old Bryana (Dee Dee Davis) – called “Baby Girl” – who is terrified of her gutter-mouthed “Uncle Daddy.”

Bernie would frequently talk directly to the camera (addressing the audience as “America”) to explain his parenting decisions, complain about his lack of privacy, or vent his frustrations.

Celebrity guest stars included Halle Berry, Matt Damon, Snoop Dogg, Ellen DeGeneres, Serena Williams, Billy Crystal, Chris Rock, Shaquille O’Neal, Carl Reiner, Ashton Kutcher, Isaac Hayes, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ice Cube and Don Cheadle.

The series aired on Fox for five seasons from 14 November 2001 to 14 April 2006
