Running late for the birthday party of his best friend, Karen Hewitt (Phoebe Allen), young Bernard Beasley (David Peachey) is given a special gift by “The Postman” (Jack McKenzie), a member of the Time Keeping Society.

The golden fob watch stops time. Now – with the help of Karen, his cousin Lucy (Elizabeth Mellor), and the mysterious “Postman” – he can fight crime and help people.

He can also entertain himself endlessly – swapping his sister’s unappealing salad for a plate of sausage and chips, doing the weekly shop, playing cricket against himself – while the rest of the world stands frozen in time.

The ITV series – filmed around Nottingham and produced by Central TV –  was aimed at the under-12s.
