This Welsh animated children’s series introduced a 10-year-old girl named Beatrice Anastasia Zenobia Watkins – known as ‘Baz’ for short – who dreamed of finding a best friend.

Her wish came true when three roaming ponies – a dapple grey Welsh mountain pony (Molly), a brown Welsh mountain pony (Dylan) and a podgy brown Shetland pony (Scruffy) – showed up at her home, Star Hill Farm. Their playful frolics changed her life forever.

Other regular characters included Baz’s parents, Will and Kath Watkins; her best friend Thomas; local odd-job man Jim; half-witted beach shop owner Ambrose Higgins, and Mrs Horace Morris (the snobby landlady of the Watkins’ smallholding, who couldn’t stand ponies).

Comedienne and actress Josie Lawrence and Andrew Sachs (of Fawlty Towers fame) provided all the voices.

The series was produced by Bumper Films – the Weston-Super-Mare company that created Fireman Sam.
